San Joaquin SHRM: “Hiring A Hero”

On the second Tuesday of each month HR professionals volunteer and meet with unemployed veterans and assist them in finding a job through resume critiquing and mock interviews at the Stockton CA Employment Development Department office.

Each month at the San Joaquin Society for Human Resource Management’s (SJSHRM) lunch seminar we invite an unemployed veteran to come and speak with members.  They share their work experiences and their need for employment and the introductions have been successfully placing veterans in open positions.  The members of SJSHRM know the value of “Hiring a Hero. ”  We remind our members how our veterans have strong leadership qualities and have the ability to learn new skills and concepts with the flexibility to work strongly in teams or independently.  They come with diversity and interpersonal skills, the ability to work efficiently and diligently in fast-paced environments.  They respect their peers and superiors and are accountable for their actions.  They have integrity and triumph over adversity.  The San Joaquin Society for Human Resources Management members understand and know there’s no better choice than to hire a skilled veteran.
